Reflective Listening

Kate and Doug (MI Without Borders!) outline the four types of Acknowledgement and then coaches Catherine & Dominique (Hudson Valley Virtual) through the reflective listening process.

Parts of a Reflective Listening Conversation

  1. Make an agreement to have a reflective listening conversation.
  2. Set an intention for the conversation.
  3. Speaker speaks responsibly using “I language”.
  4. Listener listens to recreate and understand.
  5. Switch roles (optional)
  6. Create something new together and tell your coaches.
