Coaching Resources

Check out the full Reflective Listening Video here.

Coaches address the request for coaching listed on the weekly coaching sheet. Remember not to coach the issue or provide suggestions/ solutions to the couple. Listen to what their couple wants. Ask how their couple could address what's missing or needed. Mirror what you hear as coaches and encourage communication within the couple. Ask what is in the way of implementing those ideas. Invite them to make promises. Coaches can also assign homework in this area. As you coach, use the distinctions, worsheets, processes, and tools in the Guidebook. "As you practice trying to see the world through the frame of reference of the person who is speaking, you will find that you are less likely to misunderstand, less likely to rush in with advice, and more likely to connect on a deeper level." "How to be a good listener - and how to know when you're doing it right", from theconversation.com
