Meet the Westworld Virtual Circle!

by Jen Schwartz and Joe Jacobs

It started out as an experiment: can we create a circle of couples who are spread out geographically and still have them feel connected?

These days we are all used to meeting via Zoom, but in 2013 this was a new idea for CCC. Out of this idea, the Westworld Circle was born! The 15 couples who currently make up the Westworld Circle span both coasts and two countries — about half of them live near San Diego, two live near Sacramento, two couples live in Florida, and three of the couples live in Mexico. To add to the diversity, the circle also includes three same-sex couples. They span a wide range of ages as well and, to top it off, the circle includes a parent couple with both of their adult daughters and their spouses!

It isn’t easy to do something that has never been done before, but Westworld has been so effective that they have helped create at least two new circles during their 11 years of existence. They have a huge reach into their communities — the member couples have 28 children and 17 grandchildren, making for at least 45 people who get the indirect benefits of being part of Couples Coaching Couples.

Thanks to the pioneering work of the Westworld Circle, the “covid era” was easy to navigate for the CCC community. They were able to give lots of advice to other circles on having virtual calls and meetings. We have all benefitted from this amazing experiment.
