CCC’s Celebration of Service
by Jen Schwartz and Joe Jacobs
At the 2024 CCC Convention, John Marra and Karen May asked: What if we pooled our resources with a commitment to make a difference in our larger communities? The result of this question has now become our Global Celebration of Service.
The idea is simple enough: choose a service project that your circle will take on together, carry out the project, and come share about it in May. Each circle gets to design and create a project that is unique to their community and allows members to participate in ways that are fulfilling and joyful for all.
The Northern New Jersey Circle is already in action! Their circle decided to create chemotherapy care kits for people in their community and offered opportunities for others to be involved financially, by writing notes of encouragement or joining them to put the physical kits together. By doing so, they are creating ways for others outside of CCC to be involved while bringing recognition to their circle and the organization.
Other ideas are being discussed in various circles. Rocky Mountain is considering collecting donations for food banks in all of the cities in which their members live. Another circle is discussing walking together in a cancer fundraising walk. There are so many different ways that we can support our larger communities!
In whatever way your circle decides to participate, we hope that you will join us for our virtual Celebration of Service on May 3, 2025, during which circles will share what they accomplished with their projects. We are grateful for John and Karen’s question, curiosity and commitment to service. Stay tuned for more details, and go out and make a difference!
